1968 Volkswagen Beetle
Day 1 - June 29, 2008
VW shell and Nova sub-frame were brought down to lower barn. Nova sub-frame was placed in position after sections of VW front end were cut off. Dash, dash components, and steering column were taken out.
Day 2 - June 30, 2008
Under coating was removed from R front inner-fender. (No under coating was on L front inner fender.) Interior panels and sound deadeners were removed from R & L back seat area. (R & L door interiors remain.) Car was lowered to see bug at ride height.
Day 3 - July 2, 2008
Roof interior was removed. Cross member was made.
Day 4 - July 3, 2008
Rubber was removed from within car. Cross member was painted. Ladder bar mounting flanges were made.
Day 5 - July 4, 2008
Cross member was installed. Ladder bar mounting flanges were welded to their ladder bars. Metal was cut away from back seat area to clearance ladder bars and drive shaft. Rear was brought down to garage and put under car with ladder bars. Rear cross member/ parachute mount anchor was made and painted.
Day 6 - July 5, 2008
Hood and trunk were stripped and primed by Paula and Calvin. Main hoop was installed. Front hoop and halo bars were bent. Rear cross member bar was bent.
Day 7 - July 6, 2008
Roll bar parts were painted. Rear windows were removed.
Day 8 - July 7, 2008
Paula and Calvin stripped paint. Sunroof was removed.
Day 9 - July 9, 2008
Right rear strut was welded to Parachute anchor crossmember.
Day 10 - July 12, 2008
Eleven pieces for roll cage were made. Paula and Calvin stripped paint.
